Cooler days, drought-easing rains ahead for the southern Plains

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or below-normal temperatures and near- or above-normal rainfall across much of the country.  Warmer-than-normal weather will be confined to southern Texas, peninsular Florida, and parts of New England, along with the Far West and an area along the Canadian border extending as far east as northwestern Minnesota.

Drier-than-normal conditions should be limited to parts of Montana and the Dakotas.
