Cold pattern to moderate; milder days ahead for the Plains

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or below-normal temperatures across much of the eastern half of the U.S., while warmer-than-normal weather will prevail across southern Florida and from the Pacific Coast to the High Plains.

Meanwhile, near- or below-normal precipitation from California to the Midwest and mid-South should contrast with wetter-than-normal conditions in southern Texas, much of the East, and from the Pacific Northwest to North Dakota.
