Brownfield Ag Weather Today

A significant winter-weather event will continue to unfold during the mid- to late-week period from parts of Texas into the Ohio Valley and central Appalachians.  In areas where ice accretions (due to freezing rain) reach one-quarter to one-half inch, major travel and electrical disruptions may occur.  During the second half of the week, a gradual erosion of cold air will lead to more precipitation changing to rain, with Southern totals reaching 1 to 3 inches or more.  Farther north, bitterly cold conditions will shift eastward, reaching the Northeast late in the week.  Additional freezes will occur at least through mid-week in California’s San Joaquin Valley and environs.  Most of the remainder of the country, including the Plains, West, and Midwest, will receive little or no precipitation during the next 5 days.
