A disturbance crossing the West will reach the south-central U.S. by Friday before moving into the Southeast during the weekend.  Five-day rainfall totals could reach 1 to 2 inches or more from parts of Oklahoma and Texas to the southern Appalachians.  Unsettled, showery weather will also affect the Northwest, especially from the Cascades westward.  In contrast, dry weather will prevail during the next 5 days in California, the Great Basin, and the Desert Southwest, as well as the northern Plains and upper Midwest.
