Brownfield Ag Weather Today

Sponsored by: The American Soybean Association and United Soybean Board

Heat in advance of a cold front will shift into the eastern U.S. during the weekend, when temperatures could approach 100°F as far north as the middle Atlantic States.  In the front’s wake, cool air will cover much of the country.  In fact, weekend frost and freezes will occur across the northwestern half of the Plains, with the frost threat reaching into parts of the upper Midwest.  Early next week, a storm system emerging from the western U.S. should provide much-needed precipitation across the central and southern Plains, although rain will arrive too late for some drought-ravaged winter grains.  Five-day rainfall could reach 1 to 4 inches on the southern Plains.  Early next week, rain will again overspread much of the Midwest.  In contrast, dry weather will prevail during the next 5 days across California, the Great Basin, and much of the Southwest.
