Brownfield Ag Weather Today

A powerful spring storm will continue to generate a variety of weather hazards, mainly across the western and central U.S., through the weekend and into early next week.  A Blizzard Warning will be in effect for much of the weekend from northeastern Wyoming into western North Dakota and eastern Montana.  A much broader area, from the Sierra Nevada to the northern Plains, will receive varying amounts of snow, accompanied by gusty winds.  High winds will also plague the drought-stricken central and southern Plains and the Southwest, where existing wildfires will be difficult to contain—and new fires could rapidly spread.  Meanwhile, locally severe thunderstorms will remain a threat, at least through the weekend, across portions of the Plains, Midwest, and mid-South.  By early next, week, the system will begin to weaken while accelerating northeastward across eastern Canada, although showers along the storm’s trailing cold front will sweep into the eastern U.S.
