A cold front sweeping across the Plains and Midwest will reach the Atlantic Seaboard on Thursday. A low pressure system developing along the front will help to enhance rainfall across the interior Southeast, as well as the middle and northern Atlantic States. Recently flooded areas of Tennessee, where rivers are still running high, could receive at least 1 to 2 inches of rain into early Wednesday. Across the interior Northeast, precipitation will change to accumulating snow through April 1 before ending. After the cold front clears the East Coast, dry weather will cover much of the country for several days. In the front’s wake, however, late-week (April 2-3) freezes could reach as far south as Alabama and Georgia. In contrast, record-setting warmth could develop by week’s end across parts of the western and central U.S.
