Markedly more tranquil weather will prevail during the next 5 days, compared to the previous 2 weeks. In fact, completely dry weather will cover the central Plains and the middle Mississippi Valley, as well as California and much of the Southwest. Meanwhile, generally light, early- to mid-week snowfall will occur across the nation’s northern tier. Late in the week, a storm system crossing the South may produce some rain and wet snow. Windy weather will occur at times, especially in the northern and western U.S., but temperatures should be much more typical for February than those observed earlier in the month.
