A storm system currently crossing the Ohio Valley will further intensify over the lower Great Lakes region and the Northeast through Thursday. Subsequently, the storm will begin to weaken over eastern Canada. Accumulating snow associated with the storm can be expected from the middle Mississippi Valley into northern New England, while rainfall could reach 1 to 2 inches or more across the Northeast and lower Southeast, including parts of Florida. In the storm’s wake, several days of below-normal normal temperatures will occur across the central and eastern U.S. During the weekend, however, temperatures will quickly rebound to above-normal levels across the Plains and Mississippi Valley.
