Tuesday, precipitation intensity will diminish as moisture spreads farther inland across the northern Rockies and southward into central California. At mid-week, the storm will emerge from the Rockies and re-intensify across the nation’s mid-section. As a result, widespread, mid- to late-week rain will occur from the eastern Plains to the Atlantic Seaboard, with storm totals of 1 to 2 inches or more possible in the upper Midwest and the northern Atlantic States. In the north-central U.S., some precipitation may fall as snow. Colder weather will trail the departing storm system. Elsewhere, mostly dry weather will prevail throughout the week on the High Plains and from southern California to the southern Rockies.
