Below-average temperatures to continue across much of the Heartland

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook for calls for the likelihood of near- or below-normal temperatures and precipitation across most of the country. Significantly colder-than-normal conditions should be focused across the eastern U.S., while warmer-than-normal weather will be limited to portions of the northern Plains and the Southwest.

Meanwhile, wetter-than-normal conditions should be confined to the western Gulf Coast region.
