A major pattern shift ahead to much warmer, drier days for the Heartland

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or above-normal temperatures nationwide, except for cooler-than-normal conditions in the Pacific Coast States.

Meanwhile, near- or below-normal precipitation in much of the central and eastern U.S. should contrast with wetter-than-normal weather in southern Florida, the lower Rio Grande Valley, and areas along and northwest of a line from central California to Montana and northern North Dakota.
