A pattern shift ahead to cooler, showery weather for much of the Heartland
Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or above-normal temperatures and rainfall across most of the country. Cooler-than-normal conditions will be confined to the Northeast, parts of central California, and an area centered over the central Rockies.
Meanwhile, drier-than-normal weather should be limited to western Washington, the upper Great Lakes region, and parts of the Deep South, particularly along the Gulf Coast.
