A harsh, cold wave weather pattern ahead for much of the Nation, centered on the Corn Belt

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of below-normal temperatures from the Rockies to the East Coast, while warmer-than-normal weather will prevail in the Far West, including California and the Great Basin.

Meanwhile, below-normal precipitation from California to the southern Appalachians should contrast with wetter-than-normal conditions along the Atlantic Seaboard and throughout the northern U.S.
