A cooler weather pattern ahead for much of the Heartland

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of below-normal temperatures across the northern and central Plains and upper Midwest, while warmer-than-normal weather will prevail in the Pacific Northwest and the southern and eastern U.S.

Meanwhile, below-normal rainfall in the Great Basin, Intermountain West, and Great Lakes region should contrast with wetter-than-normal conditions in the Northwest, southern Atlantic region, and central and southern sections of the Rockies and Plains.
