A cooler, somewhat drier pattern ahead for parts of the Heartland

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or below-normal temperatures across much of the country, while warmer-than-normal weather should be confined to parts of California, the Desert Southwest, and the Gulf and Atlantic Coast States.

Meanwhile, below-normal rainfall in most areas from California to the Four Corners region should contrast with wetter-than-normal conditions in the Pacific Northwest and east of a line from Texas to Minnesota.
