A colder weather pattern shift ahead across the Heartland; late-season snows on the Plains

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or below-normal temperatures nationwide, except for warmer-than-normal weather in northern New England and across the Deep South, from coastal Texas to the southern Atlantic Coast.

Meanwhile, wetter-than-normal weather will cover much of the country, with near-normal precipitation confined to portions of the Great Lakes and Northeastern States.
