Titan tires are big, very big

During the Farm Progress Show the atmosphere near the Titan Tire tent was noisy and frenetic with an auctioneer selling the company’s wares to benefit FFA chapters. When the show goes back to Decatur, Illinois in a year, they’ll auction more tires to benefit FFA chapters in Illinois and Indiana. One thing not found in the Titan display is a small tire; Titan’s specialty is industrial tires for farming, mining and other very heavy duty applications.

Jay Ogden designs the tires, and at the company’s tire design headquarters in Ohio, Ogden says they make tires that are on huge mining equipment and are as big as 14 feet tall, weighing 14,000 pounds. For farm implement tires, Ogden says the key is to come up with a tire that reduces soil compaction and vibration as well as successfully fits the application.

  • It’s useful for buyers to get some experience of an auction. If someone has never made a purchase through these equipment bargains, they ought to initially attend a few equipment auctions to have an idea of how the auction process proceeds. When they attend a few equipment auctions as a spectator, the buyer can gain a better idea of how every bidding house applies various methods. Moreover, without having the pressure to make a purchase and only watch as a spectator, the buyer can effectively learn how the process works and how to make a bid with ease.
