Reflecting on a year of service

Today’s start of the 89th National FFA Convention marks the beginning of the completion of a year of service for the organization’s president.

As this week’s events begin to unfold – Taylor McNeal has started reflecting on her past year serving as the president of the National FFA Organization.

She tells Brownfield some her most memorable experiences have been spending time with the FFA members around the country.  “Hopefully I’ve had some small part in their journey towards success and helping them figure out what their passion is and how they can actually do something about that and become leaders in their community,” she says.

Tens of thousands of FFA members will be in Indy this week with varying levels of engagement in the organization.

McNeal says she hopes their experience this week will inspire them to get more involved.  “You never know what’s going to happen the more you become involved and experience things and find a home in FFA,” she says.  “This year, having met so many alumni and hearing how they talk about their FFA experience is motivation to get more involved.  Knowing it’s going to develop FFA members into really productive citizens.”

Taylor will retire her blue jacket on Saturday when the new slate of officers is announced.
