Pioneer talks soybean improvements

An account manager with DuPont Pioneer says soybean technology has come a long way to help farmers succeed.

“We’ve come through so many different step changes with herbicide technology, with disease resistance, with seed treatments on soybeans and now we’re looking at Xtend beans, liberty beans, roundup beans and all kinds of different stacked up traits,” he says.

Troy Putman tells Brownfield farmers have more options than they used to, including the company’s A Series soybeans that launched this year. He says the soybeans are the highest-yielding varieties yet.

“We’re seeing 2-2.3 bushel per acre advantage,” he says.

He says the yield increase combined with the genetics, traits, and disease tolerance is what makes the A Series stand out.

Putnam spoke to Brownfield during the Farm Science Review.
