Iowa cattlemen react to Tyson’s decision

Last week’s announcement by Tyson that it will suspend the purchase of cattle fed the growth promoting beta-agonist Zilmax came during the annual Cattle Industry Summer Conference in Denver.  It caught many cattlemen by surprise, including Kent Pruismann of Rock Valley, Iowa.  Pruismann uses Zilmax in the cattle feeding operation and markets his cattle through Tyson, so he is directly impacted by the decision.

Farmer-feeder Ed Greiman of Garner, Iowa, who is also the current president of the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association, gave us a little different perspective on Tyson’s announcement.
