Illinois farmer on corn priorities and hope for drier wx
Illinois Corn Growers Association at-large director Kate Danner says the group’s three top priorities are: USMCA ratification, improved market access for higher ethanol blends and federal funding to upgrade locks and dams.
The northwest Illinois farmer told Brownfield Ag News at Commodity Classic she had 40 to 50 acres underwater and hoped it would dry out before spring planting.
Kate Danner grows corn and soybeans in Mercer County, near Aledo, Illinois. Like many other farmers, she struggled with a wet harvest last fall but got all her crops out, “I was blessed enough to get it done. I think I finished October 31st and I’ll tell you what, the last 10 acres I picked in the POURING rain.”
