An agronomist’s dream

Mark Apelt, Team Sales Agronomist for Beck’s Hybrids says while for an agronomist having the Practical Farm Research location near London (Ohio) is an agronomists dream, it’s the farmer that will be the beneficiary.

“We’re here for the grower, so if growers have ideas and things they want to try let us know, we can test those things out here,” said Apelt. “Everyone’s got the same goal, we want to get as much production out of these acres as we possibly can and with the testing going on out here we’re going to help growers do that.”

Apelt says corps research is being conducted at all five Beck’s PFR locations.

“Including nitrogen rate studies, tillage studies, planting rates, planting dates, so there are a lot of corps plots we’re utilizing and taking all of that information and combining it and giving that information to our growers,” Apelt said.

Information that will be available this winter, to help farmers plan for 2014.
