Vilsack: Opioid bill needs funding

Rural Issues copyUS Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack, who is leading the Obama Administration’s efforts to combat the opioid abuse epidemic, says he hopes Congress funds the bipartisan Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (“CARA” act). He was with Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill, who cosponsored the bill, for town hall meetings about prevention and recovery efforts in Missouri last week.

A large percentage of opioid abuse (from prescription jobs and heroin use) is in rural America.
