Vilsack discusses ag’s economic challenges

U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack held a conference call with ag reporters Wednesday during which he announced new funding for innovative rural small businesses.  Vilsack calls it, “new localized investments to support groundbreaking scientific research that improves agriculture and creates strong rural economies.”

In a question and answer session following that announcement, Vilsack was asked about the economic challenges being felt in many agriculture sectors and if there is anything the USDA can do to help address them.
