Reducing food loss and waste
It is estimated that one-third of all food produced around the world is lost to food waste. That includes losses in the field during and after harvest as well as food that is thrown away by grocery stores and consumers.
It’s a big issue in the discussion about how we’re going to feed a rapidly increasing global population.
At this year’s World Food Prize event in Des Moines, Dr. Per Pinstrup-Andersen, an economist and 2001 World Food Prize Laureate, met with the media to discuss a new report entitled “Reducing food losses and wastes for improved food security”. The report was developed by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization’s (FAO) High Level Panel of Experts on Food Security and Nutrition.

Matt,
Here is a link to the FAO report on food loss and waste. I believe this the same report, although the title is slightly different from what we were given.

Great information. A quick Google search did not bring up the report. Could you provide a link to the report?
