Nebraska ‘small acreage’ rancher is committed to conservation

The O’Rourke family of Chadron, Nebraska

Jim and Lora O’Rourke are the recipients of the 2018 Nebraska Leopold Conservation Award.

The O’Rourkes own and operate RuJoDen Ranch in Chadron, Nebraska.

In an interview with Brownfield, Jim O’Rourke said they’re proud to represent “smaller acreages”.

“It’s important, I think, through this award that smaller acreages are being considered,” he says. “I think we all need to think about, in our own counties, how many of those operations exist. There’s a lot of them.”
