Nebraska couple works to “professionalize” organic farming

Amy and Tyler Bruch, with their new electric Weed Zapper

Amy and Tyler Bruch of Cyclone Farms, Waco, Nebraska, are organic farmers. But they’re more than that. They are also advocates for organic farming and are working to, in their words, “professionalize the industry” by addressing some of the issues that seem to be holding it back.

We visited with the Bruchs at their farm, which was scheduled to be the first stop on U.S. Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue’s visit to Nebraska last Friday. Perdue’s trip was cancelled, but the Bruchs went ahead with a presentation to Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts and Nebraska ag director Steve Wellman.
