Growth Energy’s Skor criticizes Pruitt, Cruz

The CEO of Growth Energy says the ethanol industry must continue to hold EPA administrator Scott Pruitt’s feet to the fire.

In a speech Tuesday at the Fuel Ethanol Workshop (FEW) in Omaha, Emily Skor criticized Pruitt for granting RFS hardship waiver to oil refiners, which she says has destroyed over one billion gallons of ethanol demand.

“At a time when farmers are facing the sharpest downturn since the 1980’s, Administrator Pruitt is betraying his own promise—and the Trump Administration’s promise—to uphold the U.S. renewable fuel laws and protect rural jobs,” Skor said.

She also criticized Texas Senator Ted Cruz for pushing for what she calls “the shamelessly illegal scheme” to attach RINS to ethanol exports.

“With support from our amazing champions in Congress, we defeated that idea last October. But like a cat with nine lives, Senator Cruz brought it back—and we defeated it again last week. And we will defeat it a third time and fourth time, if need be. We have no choice.”
