Thanks to Mike Harbit, GM/President for answering a few questions for us:

How long has your station been on the air?

KNEM-AM – 1939, KNMO-FM – 1984

How long have you been a Brownfield affiliate?

I honestly don’t know. I moved to Nevada, MO in 1987 to work for KNEM-AM and it was a Brownfield affiliate at that time. When KNMO-FM was bought by the owners of KNEM-AM in 1989, it also became an affiliate when the simulcast was established.

What Brownfield programs do you air?

Morning Agri-Business News, Morning Livestock Report, Midday Ag Headline News, Managing For Profit, Brownfield Commodity Settlement

Tell us about the services your station provides.

We are full service local radio stations. We provide local news, weather & sports with several newscasts each day along with coverage of Nevada and area athletics. We also work to keep listeners entertained with the latest in country music. We are “Live & Local” as we have announcers on the air who are located in the community and invested in the community.

Tell us about your community involvement.

Besides all the local news and sports coverage, we stay active with several fundraisers during the course of the year for local organizations. We‘re involved with a community free swimming event every summer that also includes a number of local partners who display their resources. This past Christmas we helped to initiate a new program called “Senior Snowflakes” that helped fulfill holiday wishes for elderly citizens in the air.

Tell us about any involvement you have, or coverage you provide, to any agriculture related groups.

Each July, we provide weeklong live broadcasts from the Vernon County Youth Fair broadcasting live from the Vernon County Fairgrounds. We provide updates, results and interviews with fair participants and officials.

What other Learfield networks or services are you affiliated with?

Missourinet and the Missouri Tiger Network

Anything else you would like to tell us?

We enjoy our relationship with the Brownfield Network. We’re located in a strong agriculture and livestock area in west central and southwest Missouri. The programming from Brownfield is ideal for our listeners and we appreciate the partnership.
