Young Missouri lady grateful for place to show cattle

It’s quiet on much of the Missouri State Fairgrounds this week, but youth livestock shows are going on despite the changes resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. One Missouri young person is grateful to be showing at all.

Kierstin Bollinger’s September heifer topped its showmanship class.

“We call her Style, she was born in September 2019,” Bollinger told Brownfield Ag News at the youth cattle showmanship competition Monday. “She’s probably one of the best cattle we have here right now.”

In view of the precautions for the coronavirus that have caused the rest of the fair to shut down for 2020, the young Bollinger, from Cape Girardeau County, is relieved there’s at least this opportunity to show her animal.

“It’s really exciting because at Cape Girardeau we didn’t get to have our county or district fair,” said Bollinger, “so I’m kind of glad that we could have [the Missouri State Fair], so then we can show around here.”
