Xochitl Torres Small sworn into office

Xochitl Torres Small is officially USDA’s next deputy ag secretary.

The former Under Secretary for Rural Development was sworn into office by Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack Monday afternoon.

“My mission is to serve the people of USDA every single day,” she said. “I will support your unparalleled dedication and to make sure you have the tools to tackle the challenges.”

Torres Small’s nomination was confirmed by the U.S. Senate last week by a vote of 84-8.She succeeds Jewel Bronaugh who stepped down from the position earlier this year.
