WRDA 2022 heads to Biden’s desk

Congress has passed a bill that makes vital investments in the nation’s ports and inland waterway system.

President Biden is set to sign the Water Resources and Development Act of 2022, and US Senator Chuck Grassley says the legislation authorizes flood control.

“I think it’s going to help us with moving stuff that particularly moves by barges very much,” Grassley said during his weekly press call with farm reporters Tuesday. “That’s very important.”

The Iowa Republican tells Brownfield the bill also improves programs within the US Army Corps of Engineers.

WRDA 2022 was included in the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2023.

Corey Rosenbusch, President and CEO of The Fertilizer Institute, says WRDA provides vital support to agriculture and the nation’s transportation infrastructure.
