Wisconsin’s next direct farmer payments will help small operations
Nearly half of the farmers that applied for Wisconsin’s second round of coronavirus direct payments are operating smaller farms.
Ag Secretary Designee Randy Romanski says 45% of the new applications came from farms with a gross income between 10-thousand and 30-thousand dollars.
Romanski says he expects all 8-point-4 million dollars remaining in the program will be paid out to farmers, and he says the Department of Revenue has already processed more than 32-hundred of the nearly 47-hundred new applications.
Romanski says qualifying farmers can expect to see payments in mid-September.
