Wisconsin planting limited by weather

Wisconsin farmers are continuing to struggle to complete fieldwork.  USDA reporters say only 1.7 days were suitable for entering fields, and spring tillage is only 8 percent finished.  That’s almost three weeks behind last year and 11 days behind average.

Most corn and soybean planting is on hold, but 8% of the oats and 13% of the potatoes are planted as of Sunday.

Topsoil moistures in Wisconsin are 66% adequate and 25% surplus, with subsoil moistures 70% adequate and 17% surplus.  Temperatures remained below normal all week.
