Wisconsin organic certifier sold

Wisconsin-based Nature’s International Certification Services (NICS) from Viroqua has been acquired by France-based Ecocert Group. 

Ecocert Group issued a statement saying acquisition of NICS significantly strengthens its presence in the United States and solidifies its position as a world leader in certification under the US National Organic Program.

NICS owner Marta Engel says with the new ownership NICS will be able to offer better services to organic farms and businesses. 

NICS has 24 employees that certify around 1,200 organic operations, mostly in the Midwest and Texas.
