Wisconsin names 34th Ag Enterprise Area

Wisconsin’s latest Ag Enterprise Area is in Waupaca County.

Starting January first, a new Farming Forward AEA will encompass more than 19,000 acres in the Town of Lind.  Nine dairy, grain, and specialty crop farmers petitioned for the new Ag Enterprise Area.

Ag Enterprise Areas are part of the farmland preservation program and are designed to keep land in agricultural use and preserve agricultural infrastructure.  Farmers in an AEA also have farmland preservation tax credits available and are not subject to new land use regulations.  The participating farms must keep their land in ag use for 15 years and meet conservation standards.

The new Ag Enterprise Area in Waupaca County will be the 34th AEA bringing Wisconsin’s acreage in the program to more than a million acres.
