Wisconsin farmers made progress with tillage before weekend snow

Wisconsin’s farmers had good weather for fieldwork before the weather changed and brought snow to parts of the state Saturday night.  USDA reporters say just under five days were suitable for fieldwork last week with temperatures from two to eight degrees above normal for this time of year.

Fall tillage is now 73% finished, which is about two weeks ahead of average.

Topsoil levels are 77 percent adequate, with 3% surplus and 15% short.

Wisconsin’s corn for grain is 85% harvested, which is on pace with last year but two weeks ahead of average.

Ninety-seven percent of the soybeans are harvested.
