Wisconsin crops improving after rain

Wisconsin crops are doing well after more scattered rain over the past week.

Corn silking is at 88%, with 44% of the crop in the dough stage.  Four percent of the state’s corn is now dented.  Seventy-eight percent of the corn is reported as good to excellent, and 2% better than last week.

Ninety-three percent of the soybeans are blooming with 72% setting pods.  Seventy-seven percent of the beans are in good to excellent condition, which is a 3% improvement from last week.

The oats are now 97% colored and 44% of the crop is harvested for grain.

Twelve percent of Wisconsin’s potatoes are now harvested, about 8 days behind average.  Ninety-one percent of the crop is in good to excellent condition.
