Winter wheat conditions improving in Plains

There are improving numbers in winter wheat conditions in some parts of the country.  USDA meteorologist Brad Rippey says recent rains have helped the Great Plains, “We’ve actually seen winter wheat conditions improving from Kansas southward into Texas and also topsoil moisture improving as well.”

He says South Texas has gotten the most benefit, “Not a big wheat producing area but, still, some drought relief there. Kansas also seeing some rain over the last week and seeing winter wheat condition improving.”

Rippey says Oklahoma has the best rated winter wheat at 77% good to excellent with the drought there all but eradicated.
