Wildfire assistance hauled in from long distances

Kansas ranchers affected by wildfires have been getting needed help from many parts of the U.S.  Much of the assistance is hay coming on flatbed trucks that have made some long hauls. Central Kansas farmer Doug Keesling is not directly affected, although others in his county are.  He makes a point of observing where hay trucks come from.

“I’ve seen a lot from Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota,” said Keesling, during an interview Thursday with Brownfield Ag News.  “I even saw two that were in tandem that parked in town to eat, and I asked them were they were from and they were from New York.”

In the last few days, that part of Kansas has had weather that should help recovery.

“This rain will be a blessing for them, because it’ll speed the regrowth of those pastures,” he said.  “This rain will help them out tremendously.”
