WI Farm Bureau supports road weight changes, FALO restrictions
Wisconsin farmers are hoping state lawmakers act on certain legislation soon.
State Farm Bureau Government Relations Director Jason Mugnaini tells Brownfield state legislation that would help haulers of milk and other agricultural liquid products by increasing truck weight limits has been gaining support. “We need to make sure that we can clarify some of these things so we can move products like liquid whey at a weight that is commensurate with production agriculture, and the configuration is 96-thousand pounds on six axles.”
Mugnaini says Wisconsin legislators are also tackling another issue of national interest. “There are a couple of pieces of legislation I’ve recently testified on about foreign land ownership. That piece of legislation is still kind of working it’s way through and is going to need a few amendments.”
Mugnaini says Farm Bureau’s big push this week is to call legislators and ask them to back LRB4676, a new bill that would allow Farm Bureau to offer lower cost health care coverage to their members.
Farm Bureau’s annual meeting wraps up this afternoon after the voting delegate session.
