Whitmer declares high wind disaster areas

Three southern counties have been declared disaster areas in Michigan because of high winds.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer says Branch, Hillsdale, and St. Joseph Counties were severely impacted by thunderstorms and straight-line winds August 11 and 12 and emergency assistance to help with recovery efforts.

Severe weather also caused intermittent crop and farm damage in those areas.
