What’s Plan B for extreme weather?
An agronomist recommends farmers create a back up plan for when Mother Nature strikes during the growing season.
Jeff Coulter with the University of Minnesota Extension tells Brownfield weather can have a much larger impact on yields than any management plan and farmers need to be prepared. “When we look back at the past few years, it seems like wherever we are at in the Corn Belt, growers have been experiencing weather related challenges that affect their initial agronomic plans.”
He says now is a good time for farmers to create a plan B and C to overcome extreme weather events.
Coulter says going back to the basics of agronomy can also help control costs and increase yields.
