Wet fields slow Michigan harvest

Heavy rains last week caused standing water in many fields across Michigan and further delayed harvest.

The USDA says the state’s corn crop condition is 44 percent good to excellent with 82 percent dented and 31 percent mature.  Corn silage harvest is 42 percent complete and grain harvest is at four percent.

Soybeans are 69 percent dropping leaves, eight percent harvested, and condition is 41 percent good to excellent.

Dry Beans are 53 percent good to excellent with 26 percent harvested.  Sugarbeets are 64 percent good to excellent with 14 percent harvested.

Apple harvest continues after rains delayed progress in some areas.
