Wet December for much of Arkansas

December was wetter than normal in Arkansas.

The USDA says temperatures were slightly above average, but conditions were wet and muddy, with hay feeding ongoing, and while winter wheat and cover crops are mostly doing well, flooding is a problem in parts of the state.

67% of Arkansas’ topsoil and 55% of subsoil have surplus moisture levels.

The USDA’s weekly crop progress and condition numbers resume in April.
