Western Iowa farmer gets started on soybean harvest

Harvest got underway this week for western Iowa farmer Kevin Ross.

“We’re running pretty smooth,” he said. “There’s definitely some green spots yet in the beans, but it seems like almost no matter what the maturity is they seem to be ready.”

He tells Brownfield there’s been some variability with his corn crop. “There’s some areas that got some wind damage even and a lot of ear worm damage, which is something I haven’t seen in our area for a long time. We’re going to be a little careful on grain quality this year when it comes to corn.”
