West Michigan food and ag companies growing

Two food and ag business companies have announced expansion plans in West Michigan.

Request Foods is planning for a $205 million expansion in Holland.  The frozen food company will construct a $74 million new manufacturing plant, $43 million cold storage warehouse and $81 million expansion at an existing plant.  The project also includes upgrades to wastewater facilities.

Farmers Co-Op Elevator Co. Inc. has started construction to expand and relocate their Hudsonville business divisions Box and Basket and Michigan Turf and Ornamental which provide inputs and supplies for farmers and the green industry.

The divisions are moving to be adjacent to the company’s mill in Zeeland and will increase storage capacity as well as retail space.  The project should be completed next April.
