Weather slows Illinois harvest

Last week was warm but mostly wet for Illinois farmers.  USDA reporters say the statewide average precipitation was 2.35 inches in the week ending Sunday, which was almost an inch and three-quarters more than normal.  That weather gave farmers barely one day to keep tractors and combines rolling.

USDA says 81% of Illinois corn is harvested.  Seventy-five percent of the soybeans are in the bin.  The winter wheat crop is 70% planted with 53% emerging.
