Voter Guide asks Ohio candidates, officials about ag issues

The Ohio Corn and Wheat Growers Association has created a voter guide to give grain farmers perspective from candidates and elected officials ahead of the upcoming election.

OCWGA President Ben Klick says each candidate was asked a set of questions on ag issues in the inaugural voter guide.

“We had an even slate for asking candidates questions we have regarding different issues whether it was ethanol, trade, or atrazine,” he says. “(The guide) will really help members gauge those candidates and see how up-to-date and familiar they are with our issues as Ohio farmers.”

Topics included infrastructure, fair trade, biofuels, risk management, environmental stewardship, and general policy.

“That’s going to be really important to let growers see that and help them make a good decision going forward this fall when it comes to voting,” he says.

All of Ohio’s 15 Congressional seats and one of the U.S. Senate seats are on the November 8th ballot.
